Emirati girl, 2, drowns in swimming pool



FUJAIRAH // An Emirati girl, 2, drowned in a swimming pool in Al Bithnah, Fujairah, on Saturday.

Fujairah Police said they received an emergency call at 2.30pm after the toddler, R A, was found floating unconscious in the family swimming pool.

Ambulances and police were sent to the home and the toddler was taken out of the water and taken to Fujairah hospital.

The child was pronounced dead by medics. The funeral took place the same day after Maghrib prayers in Al Raqabani Mosque, Qidfa.

Public prosecution is investigating the death. Police have urged parents to keep a close eye on young children and take extra safety measures at private swimming pools.
