DUBAI // Emirati director Nahla Al Fahad’s documentary ‘The Tainted Veil’ will be screened in London on Monday. The film gives voice to the differing views of women about wearing the hijab. The film was shot in nine countries and co-directed by American Ovidio Salazar and Syrian Mazen al Khayrat. Produced by UAE-based Anasy Media, it features interviews with Muslim women who discuss their reasons for choosing or deciding not to wear the veil. “I think we all need to calm down a little about this small piece of cloth, there are so many misconceptions and stereotypes attached to the veil so it was important to give access to real people and their opinions on wearing the veil,” said Ms Al Fahad. There will be a private screening of the documentary on Monday at the Everyman Cinema in Hampstead.
