ABU DHABI // The Emirates Red Crescent has sent 830 tonnes of aid to Yemen, while the Khalifa Foundation has sent 400 tonnes of food and 300 barrels of diesel fuel to Yemen’s Socotra island.

A cargo ship carried 650 tonnes of food materials and 180 tonnes of medications and medical supplies, said Wam, the state news agency.

The humanitarian response was for the benefit of those affected by recent events in Yemen. The distribution of aid is implemented in coordination and cooperation with regional and international humanitarian organisations.

An official from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation said that the humanitarian efforts help reduce the suffering of those affected by poor conditions.

The support and help provided by the Khalifa Foundation to the needy in various parts of the world embodies the humanitarian vision and wise leadership of the President, Sheikh Khalifa.

The UAE is committed to strengthening international peace and security. An official said the foundation does not flinch from sending humanitarian aid, including medicine, medical devices and food items to people in need.
