DUBAI // Forty five supporters of the Year of Reading campaign will be honoured during the UAE’s 45th National Day anniversary, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has said.
The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai said the celebrations would honour public figures who helped the campaign improve levels of reading in the country.
During the National Day ceremony, 45 medals will be awarded to personalities who supported reading.
Their achievements will be archived in a book detailing their winning initiatives.
Sheikh Mohammed said that National Day on December 2 was the best time to honour these figures.
“The reading community is a civilised one, and those who back reading support civilisation and the future,” he said.
This year was declared as the Year for Reading in the UAE by the President, Sheikh Khalifa.
