ABU DHABI // A vocational education event will start next week under the patronage of Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Students from the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Actvet) will be able to meet experts, industry and government leaders, policymakers, researchers and educators, organisers said.
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Innovation Week starts on Tuesday and will focus this year on the creation of a sustainable post-oil economy, said Mubarak Al Shamsi, director general of the centre.
The event will include a forum in which students can learn about career opportunities in technical and vocational sectors.
Employers will also be able to hear about technical developments in the education system.
International experts in the industry will participate in the Leaders Forum, which is aimed at promoting understanding of technical and vocational education, sharing current practices and promoting cooperation between vocational and technical institutions and the private sector to nurture youth employability.
Another event, the Discovery Experience, will feature workshops, seminars and other events across Actvet entities. Students and their parents will be able to see job opportunities in various vocational or technical sectors.
