SHARJAH // A 12-year-old schoolgirl has fallen to her death from the 8th floor of a Sharjah building.
Police are trying to piece together the events on Sunday between the time the girl was last seen and her tragic death hours later.
It is believed that she caught a taxi to a Sharjah mall after school on Sunday, and was upset after an argument with her mother.
The unidentified girl, a Grade 8 pupil at Sharjah Indian School, reportedly did not have the money to pay the driver so she gave him her mother’s number and ran off.
Police are trying to determine what happened between her leaving the taxi and the discovery of her body at the building in Al Qasimiyah, near Al Bustan Hotel.
Officials from the girl’s school said they received a call that the pupil had gone missing after leaving the bus.
“She was dropped in front of her house after school around 2.30pm,” said Radhakrishnan Nair, the principal.
“We got a call from the parents around 4pm saying that she had not reached home.
“I immediately sent our buses to look for her in Ajman and Sharjah.
“We searched for a while and then advised the parents to inform the police.”
