The Sharjah Educational Zone has approved 60 schools to increase their fees for the 2014/2015 school year, according to Hessa Al Khaja, head of Private and Quality and Education at Sharjah Educational Zone.
Ms Al Khaja said 47 private schools offering the ministry’s curriculum, as well as one offering a foreign curriculum and 12 community schools have applied for fee increases, marking a 13 per cent rise in the fee increase index for private schools compared to last year.
She said that the private education division is currently in the process of forming a committee to look into requests from private schools for fee increases to investigate the reasons of the requested increases.
