Al Jalila Foundation and the Ministry of Education have signed an agreement to attract pupils to careers in fields such as medicine and to encourage scientific innovation in schools.
Both bodies also agreed to promote inclusive education across all schools by educating teachers in specialising with special needs students.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the ministry’s undersecretary, Marwan Al Sawaleh, and Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, chief of the foundation.
Dr Al Olama said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with the UAE’s main educational body to achieve our shared vision for an inclusive education system that gives every child the necessary foundation for a bright future. With the support of the Ministry of Education, we look forward to expanding our Ta’alouf teachers training across the UAE.”
Ta’alouf offers free courses to integrate special needs children into mainstream schools.
Hundreds of teachers and carers have graduated from the programme, established in partnership with Zayed University and supported by the ministry and Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority. Mr Al Sawaleh said: “This agreement focuses on the development of student skills and creativity in scientific innovation and research – a core element of our education development plan.”
He said: “This is the start of a long and fruitful relationship, which will benefit both students and teachers in the UAE.”
