ABU DHABI // A name has been announced for the new university to be created by the merger of three Abu Dhabi higher-education institutions.
The Khalifa University of Science and Technology was established in a decree issued by the President, Sheikh Khalifa, reported Wam, the state news agency.
The merger of the scientific universities had been announced in October. They are Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, the Petroleum Institute and Masdar Institute of Science and Technology.
The move is aimed at strengthening scientific research and promoting world-class academic research locally, Wam said.
