Health officials have confirmed gastroenteritis as the cause of a nausea and vomiting virus which forced the closure of a Dubai primary school this week.
The Kindergarten Starters, an Indian curriculum school owned by Gems Education, was shut for two days on Wednesday after around two dozen pupils fell ill.
According to reports, the first case occurred on April 8 shortly after a pupil returned from holiday. By that evening, numerous children complained of feeling sick.
On Thursday, Dubai Health Authority said it had completed its investigation and found the cause to be gastroenteritis.
“The DHA would like to assure the public that all the students are now in good health,” it said in a statement.
“They have been discharged from the hospital and no new cases have been reported."
An external company is currently carrying out a deep clean of the building and all school buses. The school will reopen on Sunday.
