DUBAI // The education authority will revise its inspection process this year to set an action plan for unsatisfactory schools and change the frequency of appraisals for institutions with strong performances.

The Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau’s (DSIB) third round of assessments will end in March. Eleven schools that had not met inspection criteria since 2008 have been visited three times, with a follow-up every three months.

Jameela al Muhairi, who heads the arm of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, said the organisation was in the process of collating information for a trends analysis later this year.

“After this cycle we will have three years data to see what progress schools have made so far,” said Ms al Muhairi.

“The inspection strategy is under review and we will be looking into a the plan for unsatisfactory schools, the frequency of the inspections and the period of our visits.”

School were viewed as less accountable for the quality of education delivered before the DSIB was established in 2008. Its influence has managed to transform at least four low-performing schools in Dubai, though some schools have not shown as much improvement.
