ABU DHABI // Students from 30 public and private schools across Abu Dhabi are building solar-powered cars and sustainable home models as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability in Schools, which started Monday.
The 10-day initiative, a collaboration between Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Education Council, is an emirate-wide educational programme that increases awareness about sustainable development and inspires youth towards STEM education and careers.
Model races and competitions following the different initiatives will take place at various stages of ADSWS and an overall winner for each project, namely Junior Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge and A Sustainable Model Home will be announced on 24 January at Masdar Festival.
“Sustainability has been an integral part of our country’s development goals,” said Dr Nawal’s Al-Hosany, director of sustainability at Masdar and director of Zayed Future Energy Prize.
