Graffiti mural tribute to De Niro's grandson in Dubai - in pictures
A huge mural by Marlon and Sean Moore of The Urban Artist/ Loop Colours has adored a wall in Al Quoz. All photos unless otherwise stated: Antonie Robertson / The National
The mural was dedicated to Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez, the son of a graffiti artist from New York City.
Leandro, an actor and the grandson of Robert De Niro, was the son of Carlos Rodriguez, better known as Mare139.
Artists who run graffiti workshops decided to put together the 25-square-metre mural near the studio from which the group works.
Marlon Moore and his brother Sean were inspired to pick up a spray can by the work of Mare139, a tag used to label his work on the streets of New York.
The artists aim to remove the negative stigma associated with street art, by offering wall space at their studio in Warehouse 3 at the Al Quoz Culture Hub for others to use.
