DUBAI // A taxi driver who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old schoolboy while driving him home has been sentenced to three months in jail.
Pakistani Z M, 34, admitted to the charge of sexual assault at Dubai Criminal Court last month.
The Jordanian boy was visiting his friend on October 26 last year and he hailed a taxi when he left. The defendant picked him up and the teenager took the front passenger seat of the car.
“He took a different and longer route and then started chatting with me, asking if I liked Pakistanis,” said the boy.
He said the driver then stretched his arm and started touching the boy’s thigh and arm. After getting out of the cab, the boy headed to a police station and reported him.
“We called him to come to the police station and, when he came, he confessed he touched the student and apologised,” testified Emirati policeman A B, 35.
The defendant, who confessed to police and in court, will be deported after completing his jail term.
