Dubai salesman admits to using and possessing hashish

DUBAI // A 32-year-old Swedish man has confessed in court to possessing and using hashish.

At the Dubai Criminal Court on Monday, A R, a salesman, confessed to a charge of possessing 7.68 grammes of hashish. He also confessed to using the illegal substance.

Prosecutors said that A R was arrested on July 12 for possessing drugs. Police found he possessed a small packet of dried herbs. When tested by the criminal lab, the nature of the drugs was stated as hashish.

A R then tested positive for using the drug.

It was not clear how police became aware of A R’s possession of drugs.

A verdict will be given on October 29.
