DUBAI // A sales representative has denied assaulting a female friend because she refused to have sex with him.
At Dubai Criminal Court, Emirati FO, 26, denied a sexual assault charge and said that the woman had already dropped charges.
Prosecutors said that on December 8 last year, the defendant and his alleged victim were in a hotel nightclub with a number of other friends and, when she wanted to go home, he offered to drive her.
The woman, AP, 25, from Thailand, said in records that she was with some friends when she met the defendant, who was a friend of a friend.
“At nearly 3.30am I was leaving when he said he can drive me and I trusted him because he is an Emirati,” said the woman.
Seconds after they drove off together, she said he asked to have sex with her. “I refused so he got angry and stopped the car then beat me up and ripped my clothes off before he touched my breast. I then noticed the door was unlocked so I ran out of the car naked,” said AP, who knocked on the door of a random house in Al Barsha seeking shelter.
She said a man opened the door for her and his wife gave her clothes to cover up until police arrived.
AP was charged with consuming alcohol without a licence and referred to the Court of Misdemeanours.
Policeman EM, 34, said that when he questioned the defendant four days later, he denied the accusations and said he was trying to get the woman to her place but she was too drunk to give him directions so he dropped her off at Dubai Mall then left.
FO asked that the court cross-examine AP.
The next hearing will be on March 27 to listen to AP’s testimony in court.
