DUBAI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has urged the public to suggest people to be honoured on National Day.
He took to Twitter on Friday to ask for nominations for 43 individuals from different fields to be honoured on the UAE’s 43rd National Day on December 2.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted to his 3.3 million followers: “Dear brothers and sisters, we kindly ask you to suggest names of individuals who have reached top positions in 43 different fields.
“We Emirati people value all those who aim to be number one and to set an example for their country; hence the idea of honouring 43 distinguished individuals on the occasion of the UAE’s 43rd National Day.”
He later told state news agency WAM: “We want the community to nominate the top achievers, such as first Emirati doctor, female ambassador, first Emirati to climb Mount Everest or those from other academic, sports, social and professional fields, so as to honour and show our appreciation to them during the UAE’s 43rd National Day celebrations.”
Sheikh Mohammed added that the public can nominate people in any field, such as the first UAE coach, pilot, or other professions where they have been the first to achieve their goals.
The winners will be honoured at a ceremony attended by Sheikh Mohammed, ministers and officials at the 43rd National Day celebrations.
