Police rescued a man after he crashed his jet ski into the breakwater at a beach in Dubai on Monday.

The Arab man, 20, was riding his jet ski at Al Mamzar Beach Park when he rammed into the breakwater at about 4pm.

Officers from Dubai Port Police Station and the Maritime Rescue Team found him in the sea, holding on to his capsized jet ski and hurt from the crash.

They pulled him onto the rescue boat, where they gave him first aid to treat his bleeding leg. Meanwhile, police turned his jet ski the right way up and towed it to shore.

An ambulance waiting on land took the man to the nearest hospital, in Sharjah.

On Tuesday, Col Obaid Bin Hodhaiba, Deputy director of Ports Police, called on beach-goers to follow safety rules, avoid speeding while practising water activities and sports and refrain from entering the sea under dangerous conditions.
