DUBAI // Ninety road fatalities were recorded in Dubai in the first half of the year with sudden swerving the leading factor, responsible for 24 deaths.
The figures were revealed during a performance evaluation meeting for the General Traffic Directorate for the first semester, headed by Maj Gen Khamis Matar Al Mazeina, chief of Dubai Police.
Other causes of road deaths included misjudgment of road users with 21 deaths, failure to observe a safe distance between vehicles with 13 deaths, excessive speed with 2 deaths, entering a road without making sure it was clear with one death and negligence with two deaths.
Severe road injuries were down to 95 compared to 103 in the same period last year.
