Maj Gen Khamis Al Mazeina, chief of Dubai Police, chaired the 2014 fourth-quarter performance evaluation meeting for the operations department recently.

He praised the positive results of the smart service that was introduced for the public using photos of minor traffic incidents to get immediate damage assessment and reporting without having to wait for the police to arrive to the scene.

A total of 4,005 electronic reports have been issued since the service was introduced last October.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina reviewed the outcomes of the department of operations’ development plans and programmes under the Dubai Police Strategy 2010-2015 pertaining to reducing emergency response time to 15 minutes and non-emergency response to 30 minutes.

Dubai Police control and command centre received more than 2.9 million calls last year. The average response time in 90 per cent of emergencies was 10 minutes, 39 seconds during the fourth quarter, and 13 minutes, four seconds for non-urgent incidents.
