Dubai maid worked as prostitute from her sponsor’s home, court hears

DUBAI // A maid was reported to police by her sponsor after he discovered she had been working as a prostitute from his home.

Indonesian Y J, 33, was charged by the Dubai Criminal Court with prostitution while Pakistani driver, K A, 35, who appeared alongside the maid, was charged with having consensual sex with her in return for cash.

Emirati S A, 47, told prosecutors he received a phone call on November 11 last year from an Asian man at nearly 11pm.

“He rang my wife’s number and when I answered he started talking about our maid saying that she offers men sex in return for money,” said S A, adding the caller told him Y J was at that moment with a number of men in a car having sex for money.

“We checked her room and she was not there, but about 20 minutes later she returned home,” said S A.

The Emirati said he questioned Y J about the information and asked about her whereabouts that night.

“She told me she was with a number of men then confessed she had been prostituting herself in return for Dh200 from each customer and that she had brought customers into my house without my knowledge before,” said S A, who then called police.

Officers arrested Y J at her sponsor’s house. It was not clear in records how K A was arrested.

In court K A and Y J both denied the charges against them. The next hearing will be on February 25.
