DUBAI // Government employees in Dubai have submitted nearly 30,000 suggestions to authorities through an electronic feedback system since it was launched in May 2011.
Twenty-six government departments, agencies and organisations use the "unified suggestion system", which is designed to help improve services in the emirate.
The figures were announced at the second Dubai Government Unified Suggestion System Forum, which was inaugurated yesterday.
Abdullah Al Shaibani, the secretary general of the Dubai Executive Council, said: "A team from the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai developed the suggestions system to contribute to creating the positive transformation we all aspire to in order to maintain Dubai's prestigious position, and continuously advance government services by catering to customers".
Ahmed Butti Ahmed, the director general of Dubai Customs, said the electronic system had significantly improved its performance and revenues. In 2004, Customs received only 203 suggestions. Last year, this had increased to 2,566. He said the estimated returns from implementing suggestions had amounted to Dh110 million.
Dubai Model Centre and Dubai eGovernment are working to further improve the system.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
