DUBAI // A man who threatened to decapitate two others who were loitering near his sister’s house has been sentenced to three months in jail.

The Criminal Court found N A, 33, an Emirati, guilty of issuing threats, assault and using insulting language.

D M, 30, an Afghan, and S S, 32, a Pakistani, were both convicted of assaulting N A by twisting his finger. They were sentenced to a month in jail and fined Dh1,000 each.

The incident happened on March 21 this year when the two men were sitting near a house in Hatta that was opposite the house of N A’s sister.

D M told prosecutors that at about 6pm he was waiting with S S until it was prayer time when N A got out of his car and spoke to them.

“He asked us not to sit in the street then said that we had to leave. He suddenly came out of his car and punched S S then told him he was a pimp. He then threatened to cut our heads off,” he said.

S S said they agreed with N A that they would leave the area.

“We even apologised and asked him to forgive us, but he returned and assaulted us,” said S S.

A witness, the owner of the house that the two men were sitting outside, testified that it was N A who had started the assault.

At a previous hearing in October. N A denied the charges. “That did not happen, they started the assault and I just defended myself,” he said.
