Dubai cleaner awarded after returning Dh100,000 he found

DUBAI // An Indian cleaner has been awarded for his honesty after making sure that Dh100,000 he found in a prayer room was returned to its owner.

Transguard, a security services company, said it had awarded Nisham Kunnath Valappil, a cleaner at Dubai Festival City Mall, with a cash bonus, a plane ticket home and an extra seven days’ holiday to recognise his honesty and dedication.

The 31-year-old from Kerala received the company’s “Star of the Year” award.

The runner-up award went to Muhammed Samar Shaheen, a loader at Dubai International Airport, who also found a substantial amount of money. He received a trophy and a cash bonus for his efforts.
