DUBAI // A Dubai-based charity recently launched an initiative to help families in need in Egypt.
The Al Maktoum Foundation distributed 10,500 food parcels at a cost of over Dh500,000.
Each food package included 20 kilograms of basic foodstuffs, purchased from Egypt’s local markets.
The charitable donation was an initiative of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and the patron of Al Maktoum Foundation.
Salah Al Jafarawi, an adviser to Al Maktoum Foundation, said that the aid was aimed to assist vulnerable families.
Sheikh Hamdan has asked for the aid to be distributed on an annual basis, said Mr Al Jafarawi.
