To encourage employees to read more, Dubai Public Prosecution is allocating staff one hour a day for a week to read at the open library that was set up in the park overlooking Dubai Creek.
As part of the national Month of Reading this March, DPP has dedicated activities and initiatives to encourage its employees to get stuck into a book – the open library includes several types of books, such as a biography of late Sheikh Zayed.
An initiative to provide school libraries with one million books was announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on Thursday, kicking off the month.
The aim of the initiative is to establish reading as a habit in the country and to support the country's libraries, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai said.
Next week, a book fair will launch with the participation of a number of institutions, Government departments and publishing houses.
The year 2016 was dedicated to reading. In October that year, President Sheikh Khalifa announced a Reading Law which obliged schools to encourage reading among pupils, as well as a respect for books.

Sheikh Dhiyab bin Isa (ruled 1761-1793) Built Qasr Al Hosn as a watchtower to guard over the only freshwater well on Abu Dhabi island.
