DUBAI // An unemployed man broke into the apartment of a British teacher and threatened to kill her if she did not have sex with him, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
Emirati A A, 23, is accused of trespassing, making threats, damaging property and consuming alcohol. He was not present in court on Sunday to enter a plea.
The court was told that on February 21 last year, the woman, T A, 33, was asleep at her flat in Al Barsha area when she awoke to the sound of a door being broken open.
“I saw that a strange man broke open the door to my flat,” she said.
She noticed he was drunk right away. When she asked him why he was there he picked up her phone and smashed it on the floor.
“He then pushed me and we started fighting. I was trying to calm him down just to find out why he was doing, but it was in vain,” she said.
The man punched and kicked her and threw her on the ground.
He then stepped on her neck and threatened to stab her if she would not have sex with him.
“I gave in and agreed to his demands but he just left,” she said.
During police questioning the defendant said that he was too drunk to remember what happened. He insisted he did not break down the door but had found it open.
The next hearing will be on March 10.
