ABU DHABI // Dr Amal Al Qubaisi has stepped down as head of Abu Dhabi Education Council to exclusively focus on her duties as President of the Federal National Council.
Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, who preceded Dr Al Qubaisi as Adec’s director general from 2007 to last year, will again take up the post, under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. “We wish her success in her duties,” Dr Al Khaili said. “She has transferred from one mission to another more important mission.”
The move was expected since Dr Al Qubaisi became the region’s first female leader of a national assembly last week when she was appointed president of the FNC.
Dr Al Khaili praised Dr Al Qubaisi’s leadership as director general of Adec since March last year.
Adec had won many accolades including the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award, “and this shows that Dr Amal Al Qubaisi has exerted efforts through the past period”, said Dr Al Khaili, who was announcing details of a new computer programming initiative in public and private schools across the emirate.
“This is one of the ideas adopted by Dr Amal. Through you, this achievement has been realised. As teachers, principals and administrators in Adec, I would like to thank you very much indeed for your support.”
