AJMAN // Four members of a family were injured when a car crashed into a fast-food restaurant at a petrol station.

The Arab woman driver mistakenly hit the accelerator and ploughed through the glass facade, injuring an Arab family – a man, two women and a little girl who were dining.

All, including the driver, suffered minor injuries in the crash on Al Ittihad Road, in Ajman’s industrial area.

Col Ali Al Musaibi, director of the traffic and patrols department at Ajman Police, said that the motorist was trying to park outside the restaurant when she pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

“That led her to crash into the restaurant and run over the man, two women and the kid who were inside the restaurant,” he said.

“They were transferred to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital by the National Ambulance.

“After the driver got treatment, she was transferred to Al Hamidiya Police Station to continue the legal procedures.”

It is unclear whether or not the driver will be charged over the incident. Col Al Musaibi asked all motorists to take care and to pay attention when parking their vehicles.
