Defence lawyers at the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court for a man accused of stealing Dh300,000 worth of cables from his employer have argued that the case should instead be heard by the Misdemeanours Court.
JT, from Jordan, allegedly stole the cables on February 22, from a contracting company that was dealing with a government oil company.
He was charged with embezzling public money – but it was claimed that he had left government employment three months before.
