Date for 20th Abu Dhabi Terry Fox Run confirmed

ABU DHABI // The 20th annual Terry Fox Run will be held February 27 at Corniche, organisers announced on Wednesday.
Participation in the fund-raising run has risen from 100 participants in 1995 to more than 15,000 last year. Also, Dh800,000 was raised in 2014, compared to the Dh500 that was collected in 1995.
Terry Fox was a teenager who was struck with cancer that led to the amputation of his right leg below the knee.
To raise money for the cancer research, he attempted to run across the breadth of his country. Unfortunately, the cancer returned and he died before he could complete his goal.
Now, cancer fund-raising runs take place across the world in his memory.
