ABU DHABI // A tourist is suspected of buying Dh55,000 worth of gold using fake credit cards.

Prosecutors claim the man, 28, from Malaysia, brought 30 fake cards into the country before going to the Gold Souk and buying the gold from three shops.

When he tried to buy more gold at a fourth shop the owner became suspicious of the credit card and called the bank. The bank told him the card was forged and police were informed.

His case has been forwarded to the Misdemeanours Court.
