DUBAI // A man was sentenced this morning to three months in prison for an assault that left the victim eight per cent disabled.
The man, identified as AS, a 39-year-old Emirati, told the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance that he was framed for the August 13, 2010, attack. His sentence will be suspended for three years.
"I didn’t do it, your honour, I am innocent and I was detained for a week for something i did not do,” he said.
AS told Judge Hamad Abdullatif that the victim signed a waiver saying he was not involved in the attack.
Prosecutors accused AS of being one of six men who attacked, MS. The men beat him and broke his nose, prosecutors said.
Police said AS was identified from a photo lineup.
Records show he was arrested on January 19.
