A taxi driver suspected of making Dh25,000 by fraudulently using a discount card meant for people with special needs and the elderly has been arrested.
The Public Prosecution believes he took the card from a passenger and used it to claim he was regularly transporting people with disabilities.
This enabled him to claim a bonus that Abu Dhabi's Transport Regulatory Centre gives to drivers who pick up such passengers.
It also gave him access to discounts he had not earned.
The centre became suspicious of the amount he was claiming and notified police.
