DUBAI // A student threatened a police officer and demanded his detained brother not be moved from one detention centre to another, a court heard this morning.
The Emirati student, MS, 24, is charged with threatening, assaulting and insulting FA, a police officer, as he tried to take the defendant's brother from detention.
MS was not present at Dubai Criminal Court to enter a plea.
Records show FA was ordered to move the detainee SS from the centre in Al Rashidiya police station to the detention centre at Al Qusais police station.
"When I took SS, the defendant told me that if I entered the detention to take SS he would beat me and assault my sisters, wife and mother," said FA in prosecution records.
The defendant allegedly spat on the official uniform of FA.
AA, a 27-year-old policeman, testified that on March 30 at around 11.30am FA was heading to the detention to pick up SS.
"I went with him to pick up the detainee when the defendant arrived and threatened FA." said AA.
The next hearing is scheduled for July 23 to summon the defendant.
