DUBAI // A rapist who tricked a woman into visiting his hotel room by claiming he was hosting a party was today sentenced to seven years in prison.
When the woman, 26, a Filipina, arrived in his room at the Lotus Hotel on January 12 last year, she found she was the only one there.
"He insisted that I drink alcohol and I soon lost focus and the next day I found myself naked in bed," she recalled. When she confronted the man, AA, 42, a manager from Jordan, he denied raping her.
However, when she went to the toilet she realised she had been injured. She then left and visited a nurse friend who examined her.
The Criminal Court convicted the man of rape. He will be deported after serving his jail term.
