DUBAI // A man raped his sister's nanny while his two nieces slept in the same room, a court heard today.
Prosecutors said that FM, 26, an Iranian salesman, attacked the 29-year-old Filipina at midnight on June 12 while she was sleeping in the same room with his two nieces - a one-year-old and four-year-old.
He knocked on the door and when the maid answered she noticed he was drunk. "He pushed me on the floor and raped me," said the nanny.
The nanny said she did not dare tell her employer about the attack and instead ran away to seek help from her embassy.
"I waited until my employer's wife left the house and as soon as I found a good opportunity to escape I did," she said. "The embassy took me to the police and hospital."
The salesman was charged in the Criminal Court with rape. He denied the charge, claiming the sex was with the nanny's consent.
The next hearing is expected on December 23.

Short-term let permits explained
Homeowners and tenants are allowed to list their properties for rental by registering through the Dubai Tourism website to obtain a permit.
Tenants also require a letter of no objection from their landlord before being allowed to list the property.
There is a cost of Dh1,590 before starting the process, with an additional licence fee of Dh300 per bedroom being rented in your home for the duration of the rental, which ranges from three months to a year.
Anyone hoping to list a property for rental must also provide a copy of their title deeds and Ejari, as well as their Emirates ID.
