Man lured, sexually assaulted 16-year-old girl, court hears

DUBAI // A 19-year-old student was charged this morning with sexually assaulting a girl at his house after luring her there with promises of giving her a dog.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance was told that the Emirati AM lured the 16-year-old Kuwaiti victim with the help of another male, RM, who was referred to Juvenile Court. AM denied the charges in court but prosecutors say he confessed to their investigators.

The victim told prosecutors that on October 21, 2010, she met AM and RM, who told her they had a dog that they wanted to give her.

She said that when she arrived at AM’s house, he took her to the living room and tried to kiss her and get her to take off her clothes. She said she refused and resisted him.

AM then threw her to the ground face-down and sexually assaulted her, she testified. RM also assaulted her sexually after slapping her and threatening to beat her up if she did not comply with their wishes, records show.

The victim said she had met and befriended RM through online chats.

The next hearing will be on June 19 to listen to witnesses.
