ABU DHABI // A man facing deportation for embezzlement was yesterday granted bail ahead of another financial case against him.
SA, from Jordan, was defended by his wife, BS, because he was too nervous to speak. She told the Appeals Court her husband was arrested two days ago so that he could be deported for his embezzlement charge, for which he has already served a three-year jail sentence.
However, the wife asked the judge instead to release her husband ahead of another court case against him, which is also financial, saying that he was the sole breadwinner in the family. The judge granted her request and adjourned the case to October 2. He is banned from travelling.
