A Dubai taxi driver who stabbed his cousin to death after being ordered to clean the room they shared has been handed a 10-year prison sentence.
The Pakistani man stabbed the victim three times in the chest before a flatmate stepped in to halt the brutal attack.
The killer, 40, told the witness his brain had "stopped working" during the row on June 11 last year.
“I rushed to their room and found the defendant stabbing him and I had to pull him away to stop him,” the flatmate told prosecutors.
“When I asked him why, he just said: ‘It happened’.”
The age of the victim was not disclosed in court records.
Police called to the accommodation in Hor Al Anz found the defendant outside the bedroom wearing bloodstained clothes.
During questioning, the man claimed his cousin often mistreated him and he had lost his temper after a verbal dispute.
“He told us that the deceased started screaming at him, ordering him to clean the room,” said a police captain.
The worker admitted a premeditated murder charge at an earlier hearing.
He will be deported after serving his sentence.
