DUBAI // A labourer was arrested when police found four cigarettes containing hashish hidden beneath his chair, a court heard today.

Police found the cigarettes in the labourer's room during a search of Al Sha'abyat Al Wasel labour camp on February 28.

Prosecutors said that the cigarettes contained 2.36 grams of hashish. Police also found three paper rolls containing 1.89 grams of marijuana.

The Criminal Court charged KA, 29, from Bangladesh, with consuming drugs. He confessed, saying: "I was at a friend's home and he gave them to me."

A verdict is expected on June 18.
