ABU DHABI // Two men sentenced to death for shooting two police officers during a botched drug deal in Bani Yas today pleaded their innocence at the Appeals Court.
The court adjourned the case to October 7 to appoint a lawyer for the Yemeni FA, to call prosecution witnesses and to obtain a timeline of the Emirati MK's movements in and out of the country.
The Emirati, 26, and Yemeni were previously sentenced to death by the criminal court for drug dealing, in addition to various lesser sentences.
The Emirati was also sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder, four years for drug consumption, six months for possessing a fire arm, and ordered to pay Dh10,000 compensation to the first policeman and Dh40,000 to the second. The Yemeni was also sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Dh20,000 for resisting arrest.

Opinion has been divided as to whether organ donations from a deceased person is permissible in Islam.
The body is viewed as sacred, during and after death, thus prohibiting cremation and tattoos.
One school of thought viewed the removal of organs after death as equally impermissible.
That view has largely changed, and among scholars and indeed many in society, to be seen as permissible to save another life.
