Cleaner assaulted colleague over argument on how to collect rubbish, Dubai court told

DUBAI // A cleaner knocked his colleague unconscious with a brush during an argument over how best to gather rubbish, a court heard today.

AM, 29, from Pakistan, threw the brush at SHS, 25, from Bangladesh, knocking him to the floor, prosecutors told the Criminal Court.

The incident took place at Al Aweer Fruit and Vegetable Market at about 1pm on March 23.

According to medics, the Bangladeshi's eye was permanently damaged. A forensic report estimated the disability at 35 per cent for the purposes of compensation.

In court the Pakistani denied a charge of assault. "I only dropped a brush and it hit his eye," he told the judge.

A verdict is expected on June 23.
