DUBAI // A private tutor accused of sexually assaulting four girls aged seven to 11 was acquitted yesterday after the court, citing inconsistent evidence, found no basis for the prosecution’s case.
The Egyptian suspect A?A, 43, an unregistered teacher who works as a clerk for a private institution, was also charged with threatening to kill the sisters by cutting them into pieces and throwing them in the desert for dogs to eat if they told their parents, records show.
A?A denied the charges at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance before Judge Fahmy Mounri Fahmy on January 9.
“After the court reviewed the case and evidence, it felt serious doubts regarding the claims,” the judgement read.
“The court found that the events described were completely different than the actual facts of the case.”
Forensic reports, according to the judgement, did not show any evidence of molestation or assault.
The case began in June 2010, when one of the girls told her father she had been abused, according to court records.
The father, a Palestinian, lodged a complaint at the Bur Dubai Police Station. The girls were then referred to forensics experts for medical examination.
A?A’s lawyer, Badr Abdullah Khamis, argued that the prosecution’s case was invalid and was filed maliciously against his client.
"Prosecution records show that the client was owed Dh3,000 from the family, and he was continuously told that he would be paid later," he said.
