The UAE recorded 1,512 new Covid-19 cases on Monday.

These latest infections brought the country's total number of cases since the pandemic began to 557,619.

Another 1,481 patients overcame the coronavirus, as the number of recoveries climbed to 537,531.

Three more people died, bringing the country's toll 1,654. The figures came after 178,528 more tests were carried out.

Active cases stand at 18,434.

Authorities have co-ordinated one of the world's fastest vaccination drives and widespread testing to curb the spread of the virus.

More than 12 million vaccine doses have been administered so far.

Meanwhile, hoteliers and restaurateurs have predicted a summer boost, after the government of Dubai relaxed Covid-19 rules last week.

The decision to cut social distancing from three metres to two metres was seen as crucial.
