As a staff photographer with Al Ittihad newspaper, Shaukat Ali Sufi Muhammad would frequently accompany Sheikh Zayed on his trips around the country. While covering the President's official duties, Shaukat Ali also took the time to capture everyday life in the Northern Emirates.
This image, taken in 1982, hardly needs a caption. Three boys, perhaps brothers, perhaps friends, walk down a country road one morning looking for whatever adventures life might offer. The scene is timeless. These boys would now be around 40 years old and perhaps their own sons now set out in the same spirit of hope.
On the eve of National Day 2012, let us hope their journey, like the nation’s, remains as tranquil and happy.
