DUBAI // The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will be making Dubai the final stop for its 2016 season.
Held for the first time in the UAE, the event is scheduled to take place in Dubai Marina in October, when both the female and male season champions will be crowned.
As part of the competition, athletes launch themselves from a height of 27 metres, hitting the water at speeds of up to 85 kph three seconds later.
Athletes leap from almost three times the height of an Olympic high board with no protection.
Additional stops on the circuit include both natural and urban settings such as Texas, Denmark, Portugal, France, Italy, the UK and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
