DUBAI // A cleaner is accused of molesting his female co-worker and offering her money for sex.

Dubai Criminal Court heard that on May 30 this year the Indian defendant, 26, who worked in a building in Dubai Business Bay, asked a Nepalese woman, 27, to meet him at the storeroom.

“It was 6.30am when he called and asked me to help him carry some stuff to the storeroom,” said the woman.

She went to the basement but did not know where the storeroom was so she called him for directions.

As she entered the room, the man hugged her and kissed her neck then told her he would pay her Dh100 to have sex with him.

The woman started screaming and a colleague to come to her help, after which the defendant let go of her.

She informed her boss who called police.

Police and prosecutors said that the suspect confessed during questioning to hugging and kissing his co-worker.

He was not present in court to enter a plea against a sex assault charge.

The next hearing will be on August 31.
