Cleaner admits fixing hidden camera in unisex toilets, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A cleaner at an interior design company has confessed to filming employees with a hidden camera in the toilets.

Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court that Pakistani M O, 29, fixed his Nokia mobile phone inside the company’s unisex toilets in March with its camera turned on.

Syrian engineer A M, 25, told prosecutors that he was using the toilet when he used a tissue from a box under the sink, opposite the toilet seat.

He said he noticed something sticking out of the box and then realised it was a phone with its camera recording. The man told his boss and they found out that the phone belonged to M O.

The cleaner confessed to a sex assault charge and allegedly said he had set up the hidden camera to film the company’s Filipina secretary.

A verdict is due on September 21.
