DUBAI // A drunk British man forced himself on a hotel receptionist and when asked to apologise tried to give her money instead, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The 35-year-old project manager, AR, is charged with sexual assault and with consuming alcohol without a licence. He denied the sexual assault charge in court on Wednesday morning and said he was drunk when it happened.
Records show on November 27 AR arrived drunk to the Atlantis, The Palm hotel, where he was staying, and kissed the Kenyan receptionist on the lips.
EA, 26, told prosecutors that she was on the front desk when she was taken by surprise by the defendant.
“He held my face in his hands then kissed me on the lips and left,” said EA.
The receptionist added that a few minutes later the defendant returned with a number of his friends who asked him to apologise to her.
“He gave me Dh200 instead, which I refused to take then called for hotel’s security who restrained him and called police who came and arrested him,” said EA.
Prosecutors said the project manager confessed that he kissed EA but said it was a result of him being drunk at the time.
The next hearing will be on January 13.
